A group of adventurers set out to explore further in the arctic lands in the north. They were experienced adventurers and well equipped to survive in the frigid lands. Their trek was filled with interesting creatures that they had never before seen, and when a woolly mammoth approached the group, the ranger dug in his backpack for some fruit to offer the creature. He hoped to befriend it, and possibly have an unusual mount to take back home with him to show others. However, when he held up the bright orange fruit, the nearsighted mammoth reacted as any animal would at a sudden flash of movement…he trompled the ranger into the ice before moving away.
While the ranger was healed of his wounds, he stared after the retreating broad back with hurt amazement, not understanding how the animal could have seen what he had offered as a threat. He protested to the gods that he had not intended harm and that the creature should have accepted his offer of food and friendship, but the arctic remained silent, and the mammoth continued on its way.
