I read on the VN crafting board where it was posted that if you leveled up the secondary crafting...woodworking, clothworking, leatherworking, and metalworking....instead of a tradeskill that you could get all four of the ones needed for salvaging and trinketing to at least 700 skill for really cheap. well, I am testing it out to see, and so far, it looks like it is right. And it is a LOT faster than skilling up in a tradeskill. The dings come much faster. I was just on for only an hour and got over 100 points in woodworking, putting it close to 500, and 220 points in leatherworking. Now, what craft has ever, ever, ever leveled up that fast? I'm going to continue to test this out as I am planning on having my bd be a salvager. I understand they get a lot of loot while they are out and about, and I intend to make money off of it while I'm at it. I will probably also skill her up in siegecraft. I got Tudi to LGM in that for under 200g. crazy, when compared to the awful high amount it took me to get her lgm alc Here is the post, copied from the VN board, put there by AngharadMacsen: One relatively easy way: 1) raise all secondaries (clothworking, leatherworking, metalworking, woodworking) to 500 with trinkets. Should cost you 10g or so. 2) do arrows to 500. Should cost about 50g. That'll bring woodworking to about 1000, and metalworking to about 900, which will let you salvage all metal and wood items. 3) do tailoring to 200 on leather armour. cost 1g. Clothworking and leatherworking now 700. 4) do armourcrafting to 200. Clothworking and leatherworking are now 900 (and metalworking is now 1100). cost 1g. At that point, you can salvage everything except hib RI, and you're done.

figured I should update this.... my dad went through the surgery fine. Now we just have to wait for the pathology results to see just what it was on his face. I'm back in the game, and hope to be able to stay there. I'm having a ball playing If any of you log on and don't see a name you recognize me by, I may still be on in the evenings, east coast time. I'm trying new classes (well, not new ones, but ones that I just didn't fit before), so I have new names. I am in the LFC Faithful guild, so send any of them a tell and they can ask if I'm on. I miss playing with you guys, but I am having fun trying things new to me /hugs

It would be nice if life didn't have this obsession with getting messy from time to time, it really would. But as we all know, it does. I have been playing with a great group on Ywain and enjoying what time I do get to steal to play, but rl has once again jumped up demanding attention, much like one of those little yappy dogs that seem everywhere nowadays.
Those I played with on Kay and then Gareth know about my Dad. He has had asbestoses in his lungs from working with asbestos for years, and now has less than 1/4 of his lungs left. Then a few years ago he had a stroke, about a year after we lost my Mom to cancer. The stroke left him with his right side completely paralyzed...including the muscles in his throat. Two of my brothers live with him, probably soon to be three, and they have to really watch his swallowing because the muscles don't work right since only one side works and sometimes the food goes down the wrong way. He's been slowly deteriorating, though he has hung on much longer than I expected him ever to. While I don't want to see him go, I know it's coming. But even knowing it's coming doesn't make it any easier.
Just yesterday we found out he has a cancerous growth on his face. Whether it is just that one spot or whether it is another result of the years he worked with asbestos we won't know until next month when he goes in for surgery. With his current health conditions, they can't do the surgery earlier. He has to be gotten ready to go under a general anesthesia, and they are being very careful with him because of his lungs. I've said for a while now that as long as he wants to continue to live, he will. He is the strongest willed person that I know. When he decides he's done with living, he will be gone in that instant.
A second way that life has just hit us hard is that my husband's truck broke down. It took them two weeks to fix it. No miles on the road means no paycheck. I currently have $50 to last two weeks to feed the household of 8 people. I'm not counting my hubby since he's not here to eat. And the grown children living with us? well, they're struggling too financially. My oldest son is currently between jobs, and all the money his wife makes is going toward their bills. She works in home health care and has injured her wrist, so her ability to work at her job is very limited. You can't lift people, which is a basic part of the job, if your wrist can't do it. My youngest son and his wife are in the same boat. They are only living with us because she had cancer surgery that completely wiped them out financially to begin with. Her insurance footed a big part of the bill, but they still have a huge hospital bill looming over them, as well as car payments for their transportation back and forth to work. He's currently looking for a job because the company he worked for was caught cheating on a government contract and no longer exists. The grown kids want to help, but this hit at a really bad time for them, too. It's not as bad as it could be because I did buy meat when it was on sale and put it away in the freezer, so at least that should be covered for most of the two weeks. But we do have three growing children who drink a LOT of milk, so I will need that money to go to the basics that get used up....milk, eggs, etc. They may get tired of spaghetti or the infamous tuna and egg noodle dishes, but they will not go hungry. And it's only for a finite, known time this time. It really hit harder than the sparse times over the last year because they just reinstated the pays they had cut. He actually got one nice paycheck before the truck broke, but I had used that to catch up on bills that had to wait because times had been so lean for us. But, he is out in the truck, so things should ease up in a couple of weeks so that I can be back to farming those pesky dragonsworn for their broken and worn crafting drops.

With the new patch, bonus levels are adjusted on player crafted items. This is copied directly from the vn crafting board at http://vnboards.ign.com/trade_skills/b20673/113091562/p1/?11Molvik: 1) Dragonsworn hauberks are not restricted in any way. You can still do five point OC on them and they will always be usable in Molvik. 2) The above also applies to the DS hats with +2% magic damage. 3) Any piece with +40 hits or hits cap is limited to 35.0 imbue points. 3) Any Legendary weapon is limited to 32.5 imbue points. 4) Any other piece is limited to 34.5 imbue points. All of the above limits apply at level 39. At lower levels, the specified limits must be lowered by one imbue point per level below 39. So don't go into Molvik with this sort of gear before level 39. Thidranki: 1) DS hauberks are limited to 23 imbue points. 2) Ditto DS hats with +2% magic damage. 3) +40 hits/cap pieces are limited to 15.5 imbue points. 4) Legendaries are limited to 11 imbue points. 5) Any other piece is limited to 14.5 imbue points. Again, all limits are for max level (24). Lower levels lower those limits as for Molvik. Notes: For Thid, the assumption is fairly balanced spellcrafting. The limits above don't necessarily apply if you're in the habit of putting one very large (generally, greater than 10 imbue points, or 13 imbue points for a Legendary) gem and several small gems into the piece. In that case, add five to the limits specified above. For non-DS/enhanced/Legendary level 51 gear, there are no limits beyond the usual 5.5 point OC limit for Molvik. For thid, those pieces are limited to 24.5 imbue points. For level 31 gear in thid, you are limited to 4.5 points of overcharge. Level 30 and lower gear has no new limits. Since you can easily cap everything with less than 4 points OC on level 31 gear, this should have no real impact on level 31 templates other than to require that you SC all pieces more or less evenly, rather than heavily SC some pieces, and have some pieces with little or no SC. Looking a little deeper under the hood, all inherent bonuses on DS/enhanced/legendary gear are treated as if they were a fifth gem. Each % bonus is worth 2 imbue points, each point of cap is worth 2 imbue points, 40 hits/cap are worth 9 imbue points. Since these are treated as a fifth gem, their imbue values are, of course, halved if they aren't the largest gem in the SC. This will typically be true in Molvik temps, and seldom be true in Thid templates, hence the values mentioned above. The "Bonus Level" is the imbue value of the piece after SC'ing, with the "fifth slot" included if applicable.

There have been a lot of questions about maulers lately, and how should you spec while leveling. Well, what works for me is to keep aura manipulation at level, then alternate between weapon and power strikes with the remaining points. Once you get your HoT in aura manipulation, just level up whichever seems most interesting or useful. That just seems to work to get yourself to a very good point in leveling.

They have made siegecraft its own craft now, instead of being stuck all over the place in a lot of different crafts. Skilling up in this craft is the least expensive of all crafts, and you also skill up in woodworking as you go. This makes it very rw compatible, because not only do you get the stronger siege engines, but you also grow in the skill you need to fix those keeps.
the tradeskill tool quest for this is not the same as the other crafts. The first quest has you make an item to be delivered in Fort Veldon. You then pick between a tool that helps you craft quicker, or one that helps you skill up quicker. The one to craft quicker has 60 charges, and the one to skill up has 50 charges. If you are only interested in skilling up quicker, you will probably only run this one quest one time and never have to run it again as you will get lgm long before those 50 charges are used up.
The list of siege equipment has been greatly expanded, and the higher the level of the equipment made, the harder it is to destroy it. There are many more types of ammo now, too, with a variety of types of damages.
For those that want an easy craft, this one is not only less expensive to skill up, it also seems to go much faster than the other crafts.

Here's hoping that all you and yours have a great christmas. I know this year isn't the easiest for most of us, but I, for one, am grateful that we are all healthy and have a warm place to live and plenty of food on the table.

This is a list of bonuses/costs for dragonsworn items created under armorcrafting. Right now, I only have Mid info as I have lgm crafters in mid, but not the other realms. If anyone wants to send me the info for alb or hib, I will gladly post it too. The cost listed is only for the materials you can purchase. If the crafter assesses an additional fee for time crafting as well as materials farmed to make the item, you need to discuss that with the crafter beforehand. bds is the number of broken dragonsworn armors needed to create that item.
